What is a Prestige Email Address?

A Prestige Email Address is a special email address, with a rather impressive-sounding name.
For example, JohnSmith@ThePhilatelist.co.uk, or PeterGreen@BritishPostalHistory.com

A Prestige Email Address is useful in several ways. It provides you with an email address identifying you with this global hobby. It is also very easy to remember. As you will probably already be aware, it can be quite a task to remember your current email address! If you are serious about our hobby (and who isn't!), then we are sure you will want a Prestige Email Address for yourself.

The Prestige Email Address is really just an "alias", or "nom de plume" for your existing, ordinary email address. You make no change to your current email account. Any email that is sent to your Prestige Email Address is automatically forwarded to your real email address.

How much does it cost?

We charge a very reasonable annual subscription for our Prestige Email Addresses.

The annual charge is £10.00 (or €20, or US$20).

We are currently considering longer term subscriptions at a reduced annual fee. If you would be interested in this, please let us know through our Feedback page. Tell us what you think would make a great service.

Our "Elite" Email Addresses (see below), for the truly discerning emailer, are priced at £20.00 (€40, US$40) per year.

Continuity

If you change your real email address for any reason, for example if you switch to another Service Provider, then one thing stays unchanged: your Prestige Email Address. There is no need to tell everyone your new address, or change printed stationery, etc. Just contact us with your new email information and we can quickly arrange the transfer of your subscription.

How does it work?

Our Email server machines maintain a table of Prestige Email Addresses, and the real email address which they belong to. When email arrives for one of our Prestige Email Address customers, the email is automatically (and instantly) forwarded to your real email address, where it arrives alongside your other email messages.

You will still use your existing email service provider to send and receive all of your email.

If you change your "email identity" or set your "reply-to" address in your email software to be your Prestige Email Address, then your true identity will be replaced by your Prestige Email name. If you need any help with setting this up, please contact us at helpdesk@philatelyandpostalhistory.com

I don't have an email address

If you do not yet have your own email address, then you will need to sort that out before you can use a Prestige Email Address.
There are many Internet Service Providers who offer a completely free email address as part of their service.
In the UK, Freeserve is a good example. You can collect a Freeserve installation CD from any branch of Dixons. (we make no endorsement of this company over any other)
There are various Web-based email services, such as HotMail, and mail.com. (again we make no judgement about these service providers over any other)
